Kim needed a video that would both build excitement for the project as well as acknowledge and thank all the partners that helped out. Between the “Extreme Build” name and Kim’s enthusiasm, we knew we wanted to go with a reality TV/home-makeover style video.
During pre-production, we met with Kim to develop our concept and the timeline for the video. We ended up going with three time-lapse cameras around the construction site, which we set up the day before any work began. We also spent a total of two days on-site capturing Kim’s on-camera shots, aerial footage, and beauty shots of the finished work. In order to have a quick turnaround, we pre-edited most of the video so that it would only take a few more hours of editing to add in the final footage.
The major obstacle when it came to this shoot was figuring out how to film something that didn’t really have an end date. We needed to use a video format that would work regardless of the timeline, which is how we settled on time-lapse cameras that could record up to 30 days worth of footage. Which is a good thing, because rain and other issues slowed everything down and it ended up taking 26 working days to complete construction.
Regardless, this was a really fun video to work on. We love Nana’s House and it’s amazing what they were able to accomplish in just those 26 days.
